June 6 Family Program: Archaeological Dig. Smithsonian Environmental Research Center (SERC). Second Friday of Every Month June 6th, July 11th, August 8th. SERC is partnering with the Anne Arundel County Lost Towns Archeological team to help history come alive by learning about our colonial past and participating in a dig on the Contee Farm property. You will start at SERC with a brief talk, then walk to a dig site where you will be trained to help sift colonial artifacts with the dig team. For ages 12 and older. June 14 Canoe Excursion. Smithsonian Environmental Research Center. Paddle along the shores of Muddy Creek and the Rhode River to learn about one of the many tributaries of the Chesapeake Bay.
